Van Maximilian Carlson is a Los Angeles-born American-Mexican film director, writer, and editor. His feature film, Princess of the Row, starring Martin Sheen, was Executive Produced by Morgan Freeman and received over 20 festival awards. His documentary, Ninth November Night, was shortlisted by the Oscars and hailed as, "One of the outstanding documentaries of the year." He is co-owner of the movie trailer advertising company REBEL AV.
His documentary, Bhopali, took home the Grand Jury and Audience Awards at the Slamdance Film Festival and was released internationally via HBO. His documentary, Skid Row, Los Angeles, premiered at the Dances with Films Festivals and praised as, "A stunning film that if the cinema gods are looking down will be in the running for the Oscar." His editorial work has been recognized with multiple Clio Key Art, Golden Trailer, and Promax awards.
